In the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, a unanimous decision was taken to reduce the rate of VAT on petrol and diesel. From 12 o'clock in the night, the rates were reduced by Rs 4 per liter in petrol and Rs 5 per liter in diesel. Due to this decision, the government will lose Rs 3500 crore of revenue every year. CM Ashok Gehlot has also made a tweet regarding the reduction of VAT in petrol and diesel.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote in his tweet, 'Today in the cabinet meeting, it was unanimously decided to reduce the rate of VAT on petrol / diesel. After this, from 12 o'clock tonight, the rates will be reduced by Rs 4 per liter in petrol and Rs 5 per liter in diesel. Due to this, the state government will bear the loss of annual revenue of Rs 3500 crore.
CM Ashok Gehlot gave indications
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had indicated to cut VAT on petrol and diesel during his visit to Jodhpur recently. He then said that VAT has been cut in the neighboring states, so we will also have to reduce the price.
The pressure on the Gehlot government had increased
After the reduction of excise duty on petrol and diesel by the central government, many states had reduced the rates of VAT applicable on them. Even the Congress-ruled state of Punjab had given relief to the public by reducing VAT on petrol and diesel. In such a situation, the pressure on the Gehlot government had increased further. Now the Rajasthan government has also cut the rates of VAT.
Other important decisions of Gehlot cabinet
In the meeting of the Gehlot cabinet, other decisions were taken in addition to deducting Li VAT by Rs 4 on petrol and Rs 5 on diesel. These decisions include approval of free land allotment for greenfield airport in Kota. This will strengthen the educational and economic activities in Kota. Free land allotment can be done for welfare activities. A separate cadre of warden will be formed for hostel and residential schools in the tribal area. Teachers of Sanskrit and Polytechnic Colleges will get revised pay scale.
