8 CPI(M) leaders named for violating Covid protocol, got bail

Agartala: Eight senior leaders of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, including former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, were on Wednesday granted bail by a court here. He was arrested in August last year for violating the COVID protocol during nationwide protests.



Additional Public Prosecutor Vidyut Sutradhar said that the police arrested Sarkar and seven other senior CPI(M) leaders along with several party workers for holding a meeting here on August 26 last year, violating protocol and government restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. did.

Other CPI(M) leaders who have been granted bail by the court include party central committee member Badal Choudhary, former power minister Manik Dey, former vice-president Pabitra Kar, former Lok Sabha MP Shankar Prasad Dutta and party leaders Krishna Rakshit, Rana Das and Madhusudan Das. .
